Critics call ' Moribus ' the worst superhero film. Kate Erbland has dubbed it ' Snorebius '.

Marvel and Sony are banking on their vampire film Morbius to help establish a new superhero universe in alliance with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But whether that happens or not, depends a lot on how well the film does at the box office. But it appears critics aren't at all impressed by the anti-hero flick.

In fact, early reviews have been largely negative with some dubbing Morbius one of the worst superhero films ever.

Starring Jared Leto, Morbius deals with biochemist Michael Morbius infecting himself with a form of vampirism while trying to cure himself of a rare blood disease.

From among the critics who were shown an early screening of the film, some took to social media to write about it on Wednesday, while others penned their thoughts on Thursday. The consensus is clear  -the film is bad. Just how bad, is up for debate.

Critic William Bibbiani wrote ''Morbius is the worst Marvel superhero movie in a long, long time. Mostly inert, sometimes laughable,'' Kate Erbland, who reviews for IndieWire, quipped, ''Sucks more than just blood''.

Fresh Fiction's critic Courtney Howard dubbed it 'Snorebius', adding, ''This titular anti-hero is given a vehicle that takes its foot off the gas not far enough into the ride.''

The film is an attempt to connect the Sony-Marvel world to the MCU through cameos and post-credits sequences. However, critics have slammed those efforts as well. Calling Morbius 'sloppy', Dan Murrell tweeted, ''It also contains the worst attempt at universe building in modern era.''

Writing for USA Today, Brian Truitt shared, ''Even the mid-credits scenes wind being more confusing than cool.''
