Parents to Students: A Strike is Not the Way to Respond

USA : The national parents organization asked representatives of the national student council, the teacher's organization, the Ministry of Education and the Treasury for an urgent meeting to prevent a student strike on Wednesday. The strike threat is in response to a teacher's organization announcement that the union's members will not participate in field trips and other non-classroom activities in protest of what they called foot-dragging by the ministry in addressing teachers' demands.

In its request, the parents asked the teachers to do all they could to prevent classes from not taking place. The request added, "We wish to emphasize that we understand and respect the wishes of all parties to protect their rights , but we don't believe that harming the schedule of studies will advance the goals of either party."
