University of Texas Student On Trial In Iran

TEHRAN: Omid Kokabee, an Iranian student studying at the University of Texas has reportedly gone on trial in Iran on charges of espionage. Kokabee was pursuing graduate studies in optics in the University of Texas' physics department.

University of Texas president William Powers Jr. released a statement expressing deep concern for Kokabee and describing him as a serious student, "well-regarded by his colleagues and a valued member of the UT community."
