Australia attempts to draw foreign students, aims to introduce reforms

In order to resuscitate the declining number of overseas students in local universities, the Australian government has announced plans to liberalize visas for foreign students. The announcement hailed by the Group of Eight, a coalition of leading Australian universities, is first in a series of developments to boost the Australian higher education sector which has seen a decline in the number of foreign students due to a number of factors ranging from the global economic crisis to perceptions regarding a lack of security.
