Huawei Tech & Discovery Comm. To Release an ‘Outdoor’ Phone

Huawei Technologies has decided to join hands with Discovery Communications to launch a cell phone that will target outdoor users. For those who do not know, Huawei Technologies is world’s 2^nd largest network equipment maker company after the market leader Ericsson. Discovery Communications is a popular company whose cable channels, Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet are very popular. The Agreement has been inked on 27^th Sep, 2011.

The companies aim to create a phone that is water resistant, dust-proof and has anti-shock capabilities. Huawei has recently been restructured on a large scale and has been divided into three divisions: Equipment Supply, Cell Phone and Tablet division and Enterprise Division.

Huawei and Discovery have also had previous ventures among which TV network hits such as “Deadliest Catch” and “Storm Chasers” have been the most popular. Although Huawei has had no exceptional success with their tablets, this phone will surely make an impact as no other Brand is concentrating on an outdoor device yet. The phone is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2011.
