Alcarez, Swiatek Clich Cincinnati Title In Comfortable Wins

The dream final never materialised. Jannik Sinner was forced to retire in the first set due to illness against Carlos Alcaraz in the Cincinnati Open final. The Italian said he had been feeling unwell since Sunday and could no longer continue. For Alcaraz, it’s his sixth title of the year and his first in Cincinnati.

On the women’s side, the unstoppable Iga Swiatek lifted the trophy. The world No. 3 defeated Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in straight sets in the final. At just 24 years old, Swiatek now holds 24 career titles.

In football, Real Madrid kick off their season on Tuesday when they host Osasuna. The club will also be in the spotlight in Hong Kong, where former star strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will meet in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup.
