Angelina Jolie Laments : '' IT IS SICKENING to see thousands of people drowning on the doorstep of the world's wealthiest continent''. [ Briefing May 11], I agree : it is sickening.

But what Jolie et al should also find sickening is the state of governance in many African nations, which drive their people to escape dictatorships, human rights abuses, corruption, poor health facilities and all the rest.
