'INDIRA GANDHI' INSTILL : KANGANA DIRECTS

 


Kangana Ranaut is all set to direct the Indira Gandhi film : 'Emergency,' to mark her second filmmaking venture.

Kangana Ranaut is all set to direct another film after Manikarnika : The Queen of Jhansi, which she co-directed. The director will now be directing Emergency.

Taking to her Koo account to announce the same, the Bollywood actor wrote, ''Please to wear director's hat again; after working for Emergency for more than a year, I finally figured no one can direct it better than me.''

The vain, yet popular, star added ''Collaborating with fabulous writer Riteesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments. I am determined to do it; my excitement is high. This is going to be tremendous journey, my leap to another league!''

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Ranaut elaborated on her latest venture, ''Yes, this is going to be my second directorial. Even though I wanted another film, it so happened that I was very keen on bringing Indira Gandhi's story to the silver screen. Mind you, this has never happened before,'' she remarked.

The Queen star went on, ''We are working on the project and the script is in its final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi but it is a grand period film - to be precise, a political drama that will help my generation understand [the] socio political landscape of current India.''

Ranaut has also promised that many prominent actors will be a part of Emergency, and that she is looking forward to playing the political leader herself.

Emergency was previously supposed to be directed by Sai Kabir when Ranaut had said, ''Happy to announce my dear friend Sai Kabir are celebrating on a political drama, which will be produced by Manikarnika Films and written and directed by Sai Kabir. ''

But Kabir will reportedly be directing Tiku Weds Shery for a streaming platform, according to Hindustan Times. The film will also be backed by Ranaut's Manikarnika Films. 

As for her acting gigs, the starlet will be next seen in Thalaivi, a biopic on Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. She also has Dhaakad and Tejas in the pipeline.
