VACCINE -COVID-19- *VAMPS* : 6 IMPORTANTS

6 Things to do before getting the Covid-19 vaccine : Countries world over have had a tough time since the coronavirus outbreak.

From lockdowns being imposed to overwhelmed hospitals, governments across the globe have still kept their heads high and worked hard towards battling the deadly pandemic.

However, there has been a tad little of relief following the kickstart of vaccination campaigns.

As compiled from The Indian Express, here is a list of six things you should do in the days leading up to the most awaited day of vaccination:

SLEEP

Make sure to get at least six to eight hours of sleep every night, the week before you get vaccinated. Try meditation for 15 minutes before hitting the sack for an unbroken and a good night's sleep.

TAKE A PROBIOTIC

According to leading health experts, 70% of our immunity lies in the gut. Heace, keeping the gut healthy at all times is extremely essential. Consume one probiotic every day for seven days before finally heading over to the vaccination counter.

BREATHE

Overstressing does not make matters better. Instead, it can make things much worse if you are prone to panic attacks or have underlying health conditions.

''Acute or chronic stress can weaken the response to the vaccine,'' says Indian-based Dr. Vishakha. Try doing calming exercises, practising meditation or even aromatherapy.

AVOID SMOKING

Don't smoke because this can reduce the antibody response to several vaccines. Dr. Vishakha suggests opting for a nicotine patch or gum if needed.

ADD ZINC TO YOUR DIET

Zinc is known to boost antibody response, so make sure to incorporate it in your diet at least two weeks prior to getting the dose.

''You can also start taking a supplement or a shot prior to your shot,'' notes Dr. Vishakha, adding that it is present in animal protein, sprouts, legumes. Insufficient levels of zinc in your body can be bad for digestion and overall health.

CONSUME PROTEIN

''Protein intake is crucial. Pay extra attention to your diet to ensure this. The elderly can be particularly deficient, '' she mentions. These include lean meats, poultry, dairy products and eggs among other foods.
