WHY Val Kilmer ditched Batman.

ACTOR reveals he didn't enjoy playing caped crusader : Yes, Val Kilmer recently confessed that he never enjoyed playing Batman and so, decided to walk away from the superhero franchise.

The veteran actor essayed the caped crusader and his alter ego, billionaire Bruce Wayne, only once in 1995's Batman Forever.

For long, Kilmer cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for not appearing in the franchise's next release Batman & Robin, which came out in 1997.

Now in an interview with New York Times, he has for the first time - said he did not have a good time on the film's sets and that a visit by some special guests led to this realisation, reported Free Press Journal.

The change in mind came after billionaire businessman Warren Buffet and his grandchildren visited the set of Batman Forever.

Kilmer recalled that one day during production he had to wear the Batsuit because ''some special guests were stopping by.''

But the little ones were not interest in talking to Kilmer but the fancy props and the Batmobile. That;s when the 1990s superstar realised he doesn't want to wear the mask anymore as anyone could do it.

''That's why it's so easy to have five or six Batmans. It's It's not about Batman. There is no Batman,'' he said.

There were reports that Kilmer ruined several future projects for himself after his Batman stint.

Of this, he said, ''Everyone has to work put their own salvation; and how to live by and by what morality. I found that the part I feel bad about is hurting somebody in the process.''

Kilmer insisted that he loved playing character with depth., like Doc Holliday of Tombstone, and if that wasn't possible then he wanted to have fun with entertaining characters.
