THE WORLD STUDENTS SOCIETY - most lovingly and respectfully called, !WOW! - for every subject in the world is the exclusive ownership of every student in the world

UNTIL RECENTLY HOAN TON-THAT'S greatest hit was an app that let people put Donald Trump's distinctive yellow hair on their own photos.

Then Mr. Ton-That did something momentous. He invented a tool that could end your ability walk down the street anonymously and provided it to hundred of law enforcement agencies.

His tiny company Clearview AI, devised a groundbreaking facial recognition app. You take a picture of a person, upload it and get to see public photos of that person with along with links where those photos appeared.

The system - whose backbone is a database of more than three billion images that Clearview claims to have scraped from Facebook, YouTube, Venmo and millions of other websites - goes far beyond anything ever constructed by the American government or Silicon Valley giants.

American federal and state law enforcement officers said that while they had only limited knowledge of how Clearview works and who is behind it, they had used the app to help solve cases of identity theft, credit card fraud, murder and child sexual exploitation.

Until now, technology that readily identifies everyone, base on their faces has been taboo because of its radical erosion of privacy.

More on that, in the next post. In the meantime, we swing upwards and let the social media launch us upwards.

WHILE INSTAGRAM is easy to make positive, and Facebook generally so, Twitter is not.

It's far more difficult to avoid what you you don't want to see. You might follow a writer you like who posts about elves 99 percent of the time, then all of a sudden they post orcs. Day ruined.

But there are a lot of funny accounts. There's one account, @WholesomeMeme, that posts only random, delightfully wholesome things and it's just adorable.

So it's possible to make Twitter positive. It just takes more effort.

To start, the unfollow rule from Facebook and Insta applies here as well. Muting and blocking accounts is a good place to start. This gets rid of the most terribly toxic tweeters.

You can also mute words. This is time consuming, but it lets you slightly filter whatever regularly brings you down. This is a one-at-a-time manual process, but it's something. Annoyingly, it's not perfect.

You can certainly mute the word ''orc'' but if someone tweets ''Look at this article'' and the article title is ''Orcs are better than elves,'' you're still going to see it.

If there's a specific account that always retweet content you don't like, but you like their original tweets you can also turn off retweets on a per-account basis.

You can also enable the quality filter and other advanced filters to cut down on replies from accounts with only a few followers [i.e. likely spam or bots], new accounts and so on.

To make Twitter as pleasant as possible unfollow with extreme prejudice. Follow only accounts that post only content you're sure to enjoy.

The Physical world The tips are how to make these services show you what what you want to see. But what do you show the world. This is certainly a very different question.

As for my friend, Amy Liu, 23, that I referred to in the early continuing publishing, felt she was putting on a fake digital persona, and that was one of the reasons she dropped social media.

''I felt I was portraying that fake version of me that wasn't real, especially on Instagram, where you life can't essentially have flaws and missteps, because it's all reduced to a pretty picture.''

Here's the thing :

You don't have to post anything, you don't want to. 'You don't have to post at all. There's a pressure to share, of course, but what you share and how much is entirely up to you.
