SCHOOL SUM SUPER

''I happen to know a kind-hearted private school owner in Buner who has given admission to 38 children in his school and some of them are studying gratis.''

PRIVATE schools play a vital-role in education in the developing world, just as they do in a Pakistani society. And it is unfortunate that the state of Pakistan has no policy for these institutions.

One area where this drawback is felt acutely is a uniform ''poor quota'' system to help students of humble means.

In Buner district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there are hundreds of private schools functioning which charge students high fees but only a few of them are willing to provide subsidized or free education to poor deserving students.

However, not all school managements behave in the same manner.

I happen to know a kind-hearted private school owner in Buner who has given admission to 38  children in his school and some of them are studying gratis.

There is a pressing need that private school owners take a a leaf out of this Good Samaritan's book.

The government must also chalk out a policy it deems mandatory for private schools to provide education to the less unfortunate in our society.

The World Students Society thanks author Syed Badshah and assures him of every support possible.
