ISLAMABAD : A ground breaking ceremony of Center for Mathematical Sciences was held on Thursday here at Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences' [PIES]

Interior Minister, Ahsen Iqbal who also holds the office of Panning, Development and Reforms Ministry, addressed the initiative:
''We need to enhance our production capacity and improve our standards continuously,'' the minister stressed.
The minister said Pakistan has a huge potential to stand among top economies of the world for which ''we need to conduct research on modern lines,'' adding that government had already started projects to establish-
Centres of Excellence for artificial intelligence, cyber security, big data, cloud computing and robots.
He said CMS was his own brainchild and hoped the centre to be named after Muhammed ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi, the great Muslim mathematician.
PIEAS Rector Prof Dr. Nasir Majid Mirza emphasized that it would be a great place for students having interests in Mathematics and its role in the growing research fields such as-
Advanced design, fluid structural analysis, biology, medicine, climate, finance, advanced materials and many other areas of research. [AFP]
