Earth’s groundwater getting reduced

Redder regions represent overstressed aquifers

Many of the Earth groundwater basins are going short of their capacity because of over human consumption and climate change.

Satellite data obtained by NASA show that 21 of Earth’s 37 biggest groundwater basins now lose more water annually than they take in and this is going to effect the needs of 2 billion people globally.

The research is to be published in Water Resources Research.
