Largest structure ever found

Astronomers have discovered what they believe is the largest known structure ever discovered by mankind - a massive hole 1.8 billion light years across.

Scientists believe the “supervoid” should be filled by 10,000 galaxies but have been unable to explain what it is and why it so barren.

István Szapudi, who led the work at the University of Hawaii, said the discovery was "the largest individual structure ever identified by humanity.

"This is probably the biggest we've ever seen, I mean it is huge,” he added.
