Cristiano Ronaldo put in another record-breaking performance on Saturday when scoring three goals to lead Real Madrid to a 3-0 win over Celta Vigo in La Liga.
Ronaldo’s 21st, 22nd and 23rd goals in 14 La Liga matches extended Real Madrid’s run of consecutive wins over all competitions to 18. It matched the milestone for Spanish teams established by Barcelona in the 2005-06 season.
The Portuguese opened the scoring at the Bernabéu from the penalty spot in the 36th minute, after he was felled following light contact with a Celta Vigo defender.
That single goal remained the difference between the two sides until the 65th minute when Ronaldo doubled his tally. He completed his hat-trick, a La Liga record, in the 81st minute.
