Kyiv Mohyla University students go on strike
“After the adoption of police laws Jan. 16, Ukraine has become a new country. Now everyone who dares to express his opinion is a terrorist. The university cannot remain the hub of freedom given such laws. We cannot work and study in a police state.
The time of pickets and rallies is over. The time of resolute actions is in. Our strike will snowball to other universities and finally become a general strike,” the students’ statement runs.”
Students demand the abrogation of Dec. 16 police laws, disbandment of Berkut riot police and autonomy for universities, TBi reports Jan. 20.
