''' !!! THE THIRD EYE OF -GENIUS

HARVARD ECONOMIST-

ROLAND FRYER !!! '''

Economist Roland Fryer has dedicated his life to Two questions:
Why does racial inequality persist in America??!!
And what can be done about it??!!

** !! He's found some amazing answers **  !!

Why Black People Die Younger than White People.
The fact is that blacks live, on average, six years less than whites in the United States. The life expectancy of whites is 78 years;  the life expectancy of blacks is 72 years.

If you want to know how big six years is, six years is the amount of progress that whites have made in the last 30 years. Six years is huge. Life expectancy of the blacks in the U.S. is comparable to life expectancy in Lebanon, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

And there's been a lot of hand-wringing you might call it, about the effects of environmental influences,  -diet, stress, et cetera-    on things like cardiovascular disease. Now, we absolutely know that stress is related to disease; some stress can be good, but chronic stress is bad.

Over two years (and nine-burned-out research assistants), the experts ran regressions that accounted for myriad environmental factors such as diet, socioeconomic status, and measures of stress, none of which explained much of the racial gap in hypertension or cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease is the major killer of both black and whites, but it affects blacks significantly more, and if you just eliminated cardiovascular-related diseases, you'd explain more than 60 percent of the life-expectancy gap between blanks and whites:

''So, long story short, a friend told me about an illustration she had once seen of a slave trader on the west coast of Africa licking the face of a slave. I found the picture, and it got me wondering if the slave trader was licking the slave  to see how salty the skin was. And then I came up with the idea that perhaps salt sensitivity was the key to the difference in life spans between whites and blacks.''

A person with salt sensitivity holds his salts and retains the fluids better than someone who isn't salt sensitive. And when you hold on to salt, your blood pressure goes up.

It turns out that 50 percent of blacks in the U.S. are salt sensitive compared with only 30 percent of  whites. We know from 25  years of follow-up studies that you're twice as likely to die of cardiovascular diseases if you are salt sensitive.

Now, the question is, where does that salt sensitivity come from?? Could the slave trade have selected blacks who were really able to retain salt?

You have got to think about what the slave trade must have been like. The average temperature in coastal Nigeria is about  89  degrees with at least 80 percent humidity. And people were beneath the deck of a ship, where it's incredibly hot.

In fact, from the journals of the physicians on these boats, we know that they estimate this temperature to be 120  to  130  degrees. People are sweating profusely.

So how do you survive the middle passage??!!
