Chilean students and teachers march in mass education protest

Thousands of protesters marched in Santiago against the changes to student grants.

Organizers claim more than 80,000 took par in the protest while Chile’s police put the figure at 37,500.

Led by the umbrella organization Confederation of Chilean Students (Confech), and including the Student Federation of Private Universities (Mesup) and the country's largest teachers' union (CPC), Wednesday’s protesters reiterated the movement's call for free, public education.
