First Intel powered smartphone, yes it’s not desktop PC, will be outed on April 23 in India by a local manufacturer, Lava.
Model name, XOLO X900, runs on Gingerbread and will be upgraded to ICS on a later occasion. The device will be sold at the price of 22,000 Indian Rupees. Intel’s previous attempt in smartphone industry was a tie-up with LG that turned out to be a failure for the chip maker. Now, with Lava, Intel is hoping to join the race that is already led by Qualcomm and ARM.
Intel has also developed a contract with Motorola and Lenovo whose smartphones’ details are not made available yet. But we hope sooner something nicer will hit us.
