Higher Arsenic Levels Found in Those Who Eat More Rice

According to a recent study, people with a high intake of cooked rice are exposed to potentially harmful levels of arsenic. The study, carried out on women from USA ,revealed that consuming just over one-half of a cup of cooked rice is equivalent to drinking 34 ounces (one liter) of water containing 10 parts of arsenic  per billion. This is the maximum limit identified by WHO.

Wikipedia relates high levels of arsenic to increased cases of cancers. It goes to the extent of saying, " Epidemiological studies have suggested a correlation between chronic consumption of drinking water contaminated with arsenic and the incidence of all leading causes of mortality. The literature provides reason to believe arsenic exposure is causative in the pathogenesis of diabetes"
