Coriolanus - 2012

An upcoming action-drama and tragedy film based on Shakespeare's drama (of the same name) about a career soldier forced to cope with political reality to modern dress. Like the Ian McKellen Richard III of 1995, Coriolanus finds whiffs of fascism among the populists and vice versa, in this adaptation by writer John Logan (also represented currently by Hugo)

Coriolanus, the hero of Rome, is manipulated and out-maneuvered by politicians and even his own mother Volumnia, resulting in his banishment. He subsequently offers himself to his sworn enemy, and together they march on Rome intending to destroy the city.

The film is directed by Ralph Fiennes starring Ralph Fiennes (himself) as Coriolanus, Gerard Butler as Tullus Aufidius, Vanessa Redgrave as Volumnia, Brian Cox as Menenius, Jessica Chastain as Virgilia and Paul Jesson as Brutus.
