Nestle commits to end child labour

"Child labour has no place in our supply chain." -- Senior Nestle executive Jose Lopez.
Nestle, in collaboration with Fair Labour Association (FLA), has set out to eliminate child labour on cocoa farms supplying its factories.

The firm signed a commitment to end child labour 10 years ago along with other international chocolate producers. In its statement it said that since the "cocoa supply chain is long and complex", food companies find it hard  "to establish exactly where their cocoa comes from and under what conditions it was harvested".

The FLA would examine Nestle's supply chains in Ivory Coast in January in order to determine where most of the cocoa comes from. The findings of the assessment will be published next year.
