Sweets Banned To Prevent Student Obesity

DANVILLE, III: In an attempt to reduce childhood obesity, the Northeast Elementary Magnet School has banned unhealthy and high calorie food, becoming the first elementary school in the U.S. to have won the gold-medal for taking such measures. The school cafeteria now serves fresh fruit and vegetables and low-fat or no-fat milk. Sodas, fried foods and other 'sugary' meals are no longer an option for kids whose parents have signed contracts committing to the school's approach to child health-care.
